Growing up
in Houston, Texas, Cody discovered his passion for racing while driving
a battery operated toy. Cody has since grown to be a mature and
disciplined 19 year old man and has honed his passion and skills
to become a top competitor in Kart racing, or “Karting” to those
familiar with the sport.
Cody takes his Karting as seriously as he does his
academics, which only reflect his passion for facing and conquering the
odds. Cody is a full time student attending Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
This private school that Cody attends is strict in their students
requirements and expect a demanding schedule with numerous hours to
study & attend not only classes but other activities
as well. After committing long hours and hard work with excellence in
results to his education in difficult and accelerated programs, Cody’s
supportive parents have rewarded his eagerness and drive for Karting by
allowing him to compete. Cody is a very intelligent student and takes
his academics seriously.
Cody’s constant strive to exceed any set
expectations of him make him always step up a class in Karting as soon
as he’s able, by winning in the most difficult races he can compete in.
His self determination and willingness to face harder challenges has
resulted in Cody advancing so quickly through ranks that he is the
youngest driver on the track most of the time. He considers Karting his
release from pressures and admits to losing himself by focusing so much
on the road that he sometimes forgets anything but the track in front of
him. The win that really lit his desire was Super National 60cc shifter in 2002.
Cody is a kind hearted individual by nature and
encouraged through his family, faith, and school has worked hours of
service for different programs and has developed a strong sense of
community and giving back. His mentor, friend, and sponsor Alex Meneses
from Pit Stop Kart Shop donates a portion of all entry fees to The
Covenant, which provides housing for underprivileged children. Cody
loves to be a part of the Best Buddies program through his school which
allows him to help and mentor mentally challenged students one-on-one.
His parents, Blanca and Norman as well as Cody’s
brother Norm’s love and support has encouraged Cody to develop his
passion for racing and excel in school. Thrilled by his maturity and the
dedication he shows in balancing the different and demanding aspects of
his life, they have allowed him to compete internationally and
nationally instead of only locally. Cody Jolly definitely has a long
racing career to look forward to, and as a true driver, stays ahead of
the pack and never looks back.
